Lady Luck is a Whore
By I’Wante Diamond
As most of the world knows by now New York City has some of the most talented individuals living in the city. Lady Luck is a Whore. a play written by Leanne Linsky and directed by Trish Vignola. Leanne also plays the lead role as she recounts her journey on the path to success as she travels from Las Vegas to New York City. Leanne is utterly at home in front of the audience and, seemingly, at home within her own life story. The real-life one-woman show had smooth transitions from scene to scene, and a scripted story which recounts Leanne’s journey to become an actress. Leanne is funny throughout the entire show and her energy captivates any audience. Lady Luck is a Whore is a show that touches on some heavy adult themed issues. The show balanced its heartfelt moments with ethereal entertainment. Lady Luck was a great opportunity for the show to be one-dimensional, given that Leanne performed fifty five mins with many a few props. But Leanne owned the stage, and telling stories that audience members seemed to cherish. The end result is a poignant, impassion, playful view of an actress’s painful struggles trying to find herself through multiple marriages.
